“We did what we were supposed to do.” That how Azle (24-15,8-6) coach Melissa Scogin detailed the final two Lady Hornet volleyball matches that were must-wins.
AHS won both, eliminating Springtown and claiming the final 6-4A postseason berth.

Azle squashed those hopes with a 25-13, 23-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-10 comeback victory.
Game four was the key. Scogin “made a line-up change. I went with experience and put in all my seniors, the veterans. It worked.” Miranda Miller served seven aces while Shelbi Vaughan killed 14 balls and Britney Garcia added eight. Erin Wells shone digging, Scoggin said. A 25-10, 25-22, 25-12 finale win over Brewer on Senior Night locked things up. |
