Last Thursday teams of Azle High School drama students went knocking on Azle doors, dressed as gypsy’s, tramps and vamps and collected 1,391 pounds of food in their second annual Trick-or Treat So Kids Can Eat food drive.
That total includes 150 cans collected as entry fees from people who wanted to see the student’s Improv performance on Saturday afternoon at the Azle Community Center. All together the food collection nearly doubles last year’s donation to the Azle Community Caring Center of 790 pounds.
The Trick-or-Treat so Kids Can Eat program is a national community service program in which International Thespian Society members collect thousands of pounds of food for local pantries across the country. The International Thespian Society is a division of the Educational Theatre Association, which is an international nonprofit organization founded in 1929. |
