More than 54 diners attended a “Dead Party” for Cafe Soleil Bistro last Friday – the last day of business for chef Paula Ambrose and her brother Cory, pastry chef and head waiter.
Cafe Soleil opened for business three years ago, serving fine steak, soup, salads and sandwich specialties created by Paula.
Friday, everyone dressed in black for the wake. Loyal diner Cyndi Standefer described Cafe Soleil as “like a neighborhood pub – we all knew each other’s names.” Paula and Cory will continue the catering business, but in-house dining at the former donut shop at the end of Denver Trail is over. Kevin Renshaw and his wife Kaki have dined at Cafe Soleil every Friday since it opened.
“They had the best steaks we ever ate,” he said. |
