Rally round the flag Thursday, November 19, 2009 Buddy Brock
 | Army veteran Jack Carlile |
The Azle High School student council hosted 35 local veterans last Wednesday at the school auditorium. It was their ninth annual Veterans Day Pep Rally.
VFW colorguards posted the colors and junior Carolynn Johnston sang “Proud to Be An American.” Then Ross Grant directed the stage band’s performance of “America The Beautiful,” and Debra Barkey led the choir in singing “God Bless America.”
Cheerleaders led in a Veteran’s Day cheer and the Emerald Dazzlers performed a high energy dance. And when the show was over the student council introduced each veteran by name and presented them with a certificate of appreciation as the crowd saluted with a round of applause.
